Issue 42 February 2010 - May 2010.

We had a rather disjointed end of 2009 with the Club having to be cancelled owing to the snow and ice before Christmas. This meant that many cards did not get delivered, or arrived very late. So Rodger and I would like to wish everyone a very special HAPPY AND HEALTHY 2010 to make up for it!

The Club started well with an unusual Christmas outing to ‘A Christmas Carol’ at Charwelton Village Hall. Charles Dickens (who wrote the play in 1843) would have loved it – it was a real winter’s night in a tiny village – we were warmly welcomed – and the standard of the play was excellent. Scary in parts; masks and puppets; lively dialogue and singing. Added to which several of our group won raffle prizes! Thank you to all of you for being so well behaved and a pleasure to take out.

Looking back over 2009 the thing that stands out in our minds was ‘Dogs for the Disabled’.
At the beginning of the year ‘Yaffle’ and his trainer came to visit us along with Lydia from the Centre at Banbury. That was a great success! So, in June, a group went one Saturday to visit Dogs for the Disabled in Banbury to find out how and why they train the dogs. We found out that all that training costs money and Dillons decided they would like to help. This led to the sponsored gym session in November and if you turn to the inside of your magazine you will see the result of all the running, cycling and arm cyling that went on continuously for an hour at Brackley Leisure Centre. Again we need to thank Adele for her help and enthusiasm which enabled us to do this.
Please keep your newsletter safely as it runs right into May.
