| Inspite of it being the wettest summer, the two residentials were dry as were most of the days out. We even managed an hour in the outdoor pool at Grendon! Judging by the photos and videos which have been taken and the comments from our members, the summer programme has been lots of fun. It is the first year that we have been on residential with the other groups in the County and many new friends were made or old ones renewed. The highlight for me was the dance workshop on the first residential - a hall full of youngsters for 2 hours learning street dance and salsa. They were brilliant and had a go at everything. The funniest happening was Nick C's video taken one breakfast time of Jonathan painstakingly plastering jam onto a piece of toast with the back of a teaspoon in total silence and then announcing at the end 'I love my toast'! Well done to Nick for such a quirky video clip! We shall try to post as much of the photography as possible onto the website for you all to enjoy.
We are aware that many of Dillons members will be too old for County days out next year so we will bear this in mind when we make up the programme for summer 2009. We have had a wonderful offer from our old volunteer Matt Rance (who joined the Army) to give us a free visit to the Tower of London! If you are interested then we can plan the trip together in the New Year. There are changes for some of the Dillons Club members this autumn who have left school and college: Nick C starts at Northampton College and Danny joins Anthony at Daventry College. Jonathan is moving into his own home (we look forward to seeing him regularly at the Club and hearing how his cooking is going!). We welcome Aarron back as a regular member now that he has finished at Hinwick. Best of luck to you all in your new ventures in the coming months. Deidre and Rodger | |
